I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people pee in public. Amsterdam is liberal, for sure, and it’s not just the men that have no shame in regards to public urination. But don’t let this little fact deter you from visiting; Amsterdam is probably the greatest city I’ve lived in (sorry, Melbournians…) and I’ll miss it terribly when I go. And go I shall. After nearly two years of globe-trotting and professional volunteering, my little town of Bellingham, WA has called me back home and I am happily answering that call. My heart has ached for Bellingham since the day I left. I’ve missed my friends. I’ve missed my job. I’ve missed my bands. I’ve missed my paddle boarding, my scuba diving, my hiking and my coffee at Boulevard Park. Traveling the world alone is, well….lonely. But never fear! Activism is still very much what I’m all about! I’ll be getting the Washington State chapter of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation off the ground and am super stoked about that as I’ve always admired Ian’s….umm…activism. I’ll also be heading back to my photography job at Grizzly Industrial, which I couldn’t be happier about. I’m also in the process of putting together a dive group to help Project Aware clean up the oceans; any divers near B’ham/Seattle interested in joining? The time has come for me to simply BE. To focus on my financial well-being, recharge my batteries and then head out again. To where? Only time will tell.
Ian loves the ocean...do you?
